Graduation parties are the busiest porta potty weekends of the year around Harrisburg. Use this checklist to pick the count, book the right date and place the units so guests barely notice them.

How many porta potties does a graduation party need?

A graduation party needs 1 standard porta potty per 50 guests for a 4-hour party. Most open-house parties run longer, so multiply guests by hours and divide by 200: a 120-guest, 6-hour open house needs 4 units. Add 1 unit for every 4 if alcohol is served.

When should you book graduation party porta potties?

Book graduation party porta potties 2 to 3 weeks before the party for late May and June weekends in the Harrisburg area. Standard units are often available on shorter notice, but sink units, wheelchair-accessible units and flushing units go first on popular Saturdays.

Do you need a sink or a hand-wash station?

A graduation party with food should have water for hand washing. For 1 or 2 toilets, a porta potty with a sink inside is the cheaper choice. For 3 or more toilets, add a free-standing hand-wash station near the food line.

Graduation party porta potty checklist

Use this 8-point checklist one week before the party. Each item prevents a common day-of problem, from a truck that cannot reach your backyard to a unit placed beside the buffet table.

  1. Count guests and hours. Use the 200 guest-hour rule.
  2. Pick unit types. Standard, plus a sink or accessible unit if needed.
  3. Choose the spot. Flat, 50 feet from food, door away from the party.
  4. Check the gate. A standard unit needs a 48-inch opening.
  5. Tell neighbors. Placement near a shared fence is easier with a heads-up.
  6. Confirm delivery day. Usually the day before; Saturday parties get Friday.
  7. Add lighting. A path light for evening guests.
  8. Leave it for pickup. Next business day; no cleaning needed.

Can two families share porta potties for back-to-back parties?

The event price covers up to 4 days, so neighbors with parties on Saturday and Sunday can share units. Place them where both yards can reach, and tell us so we bring extra paper.
