How many porta potties does OSHA require on a job site?
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c) Table D-1 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers. Sites with 20 or more workers need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers. Sites with 200 or more workers need 1 seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers.
| Crew size | OSHA minimum | Our recommendation (weekly service) |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 workers | 1 toilet | 1 standard unit |
| 11–20 workers | 1 toilet | 2 standard units, or 1 with twice-weekly service |
| 21–40 workers | 1 seat + 1 urinal (1 unit) | 3–4 units |
| 41–80 workers | 2 seats + 2 urinals | 5–8 units |
| 200+ workers | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 50 | Call for a site plan |

Which Harrisburg job sites do we serve?
Cory Rental Works places job-site porta potties on residential remodels, new home builds, roofing and siding jobs, commercial fit-outs, warehouse projects and road crews across the Harrisburg area. Most job-site orders are for 1 or 2 units on a monthly cycle with weekly service.
Rowhome rehabs in Midtown and Uptown
Units go on a rear-yard pad or alley spot. A street spot needs a City of Harrisburg street closure request.
New builds on the West Shore
Subdivisions in Hampden, Silver Spring and Upper Allen townships. We place near the site trailer for easy servicing.
Roofing and siding crews
Short jobs use the event rate for up to 4 days. Same-day drops for crews whose unit never arrived.
Warehouses and logistics sites
Multi-unit banks along I-81 and I-83 corridors with twice-weekly service and hand-wash stations.
Where should a job-site porta potty be placed?
Place a job-site porta potty on level ground within about 15 feet of where our service truck can park, away from crane swing paths, excavations and material drops. A level spot keeps the tank from leaking and lets our driver pump it every week without moving it.
- Level within about 2 inches across the base
- Door facing away from the street or wind
- Clear of trench edges and overhead lines
- Lit or near a work light for early starts
- Re-tell us if the unit is moved – we need to find it on service day
Construction porta potty questions
How many porta potties does my construction crew need?
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, and 1 seat plus 1 urinal per 40 workers above 20. For a 40-hour week with weekly service, we recommend 1 unit per 10 workers so the tank does not overfill before the next visit.
Is weekly cleaning included on a job-site porta potty?
Weekly service is included in the $185 per 28-day rate. Each visit pumps the tank, washes and sanitizes the inside, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Twice-weekly service can be added for big crews.
Do you bill monthly or every 28 days?
Job-site units bill on a 28-day cycle, not a calendar month. The first cycle includes the one-time $55 delivery and pickup fee. The cycle renews until you call for pickup, and the final cycle is billed by the week you used.
Can you set a unit for a roofing job that only lasts 3 days?
Short jobs use the event rate, which covers up to 4 days including delivery and pickup. Roofers, siding crews and painters book this often. If the job runs long, we switch it to the monthly rate.
Can I get a lock on the job-site unit?
Every job-site unit can take a padlock on the door hasp at no charge. Leave a key or combination for our service driver, or the unit cannot be cleaned that week.
Do you send a quote I can use for a bid?
We email itemized bid quotes for general contractors, with unit counts, service frequency and the 28-day rate. Quotes are held for 30 days.
Will a porta potty pass a Harrisburg building inspection?
Harrisburg and the surrounding townships look for a working toilet on site under OSHA rules. A serviced unit with paper and sanitizer meets that. Ask your inspector if a hand-wash station is also expected for your trade.
